System State
Manager
System State Manager (SSM) is a Symbian platform component that
manages the state of a device throughout its life cycle. SSM extends the existing
Generic Start-up Architecture (GSA) and also manages the system state and
the system-wide property.

System state indicates the state of the device. It is controlled by a state machine (that is SSM) which is volatile. The SSM concepts describes its subject to the target user. It also explains the objective of SSM, its evaluation method or plan.

The tutorials provides a quick start to create policies, plug-in and the property changes that needs to be done. It assumes that you are familiar with native programming and the basics of the SSM architecture, as described in the SSM Concepts.

This example demonstrates the System State Manager (SSM) API. It consists of System State Manager example executable (ssmanager.exe), two system state policy plugins (ssm.state.policy.0004.dll and ssm.state.policy.0005.dll), a system-wide property policy plugin (ssm.swp.policy.dummy.diskstatus.dll), an example Normal State policy (ssm.state.policy.0001.dll) and a dummy back-up application (dummybackup.exe).
