Component Palette

The component Palette view provides controls to select and place components into a UI design, as well as display information about the currently selected component. Different component sets are placed into component categories according to their usage. The types of components available for a UI design is determined by the SDK used by the project.

To add an object of a component type to your design:

NOTE The cursor will display a plus sign (+) when it is in an area where you may add a component of the selected type to your UI design.

Use the Palette Filtering setting on the tool bar to control how components are displayed in the component palette.

Item Explanation
Select Use the Select tool to select a component in the Palette, then place it into your UI design in the UI Design Editor view. If the component is visible in the design, like a control or list, it appears in the layout pane. If there is no visible component (like menus or notes), the component appears in the non-layout pane.
Marquee Use the Marquee tool to select multiple components in the UI Design Editor view.
Component drawers (Controls, Editors, etc.) Click a component drawer to display all components of the associated type which are available for your design. The drawer alternately expands and contracts to show and hide it's components.

NOTE Depending on the SDK version you are using for the project, some component drawers may not be available. The list of components within a drawer will dynamically change when specific components are placed in a design. For example, placing the List Box component in a design will cause the List Box Item and List Box Layout components to appear.
