<p>Shared memory is a method of interprocess communication (IPC) where a single
chunk of memory is shared between two or more processes. You can use shared
memory APIs to set permissions on memory and to pass data between programs
efficiently. </p>
<p>The following topics describe how you can use shared memory APIs when you
develop POSIX compliant applications or port POSIX-based applications onto
the Symbian platform. </p>
