GLib
Tutorials
- Using GThreads
- Using GIOChannel
GIOChannel provides a portable method for using file descriptors, sockets and pipes and integrating them into the GLib main loop.
- Using GCompletion
GCompletion provides a method for automatic string completion using a group of target strings. This is typically used for file name completion as is common in many UNIX shells. A possible use of such APIs in a mobile device application is the contacts application. For example, if all the names that begin with a particular prefix, say "abc", are to be displayed, these APIs can be used to get and display all the names that begin with "abc".
- Using Exported Global Variables for GLib
GLib on Linux has many global variables like g_idle_funcs exported from the .so file. Symbian platform does not support exporting global variables from the DLL. Therefore, the global variable of GLib cannot be exported and hence used directly.
- Getting GLib events in Symbian UI applications
Symbian UI applications run an event loop that is based on CActiveScheduler. The active scheduler is started by the UI framework immediately after the UI has been created (that is after ConstructL() of CEikAppUi-derived class).
